It was another fine night of racing at Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn Ca. in week ten of the 2025 season. Several riders who are not new to speedway racing but have not graced Auburn's tricky dirt oval this season made the nights line-up interesting. Up Southern California was Justin Almon who had a great night winning the handicap main event and finishing second in the scratch main event. Almon also got into the fun of the fourth round of the Team Challenge scoring a win and three points for Team IFC.
Also, if you have been around speedway racing for a while you would recognize and remember Bryan Yarrow who also made his first appearance of the 2025 season at Fast Friday's Friday night. Yarrow missed making the scratch main event but helped Team Law Tigers in the Team Challenge and won the scratch consolation race. Sammy Tetrault, another name not seen on a Fast Friday's program this season pulled on his leathers and did well in his first night of the season. A newcomer to Fast Fridays was Brandyn Indrieri who was riding in the support class who also did well on his first night at Fast Fridays. It was great to see these riders on the program.
Friday night was round four in the season long Team Challenge Series. Team racing at its best and the competition has been tight between the teams all season. In round one and two Team Law Tigers and Team IFC (Integrated Financial Concepts) were tied, in round three Team Law Tigers pulled away and led by only two points leaving the score 28-26 coming into round four Friday night.
In the first heat right out of the gate Billy Janniro and Daniel Faria came out strong for Team Law Tigers with a one-two punch, Janniro scoring a win and three points and Faria finishing second for two points. Team IFC did seem to have an answer and could only come up with one point on a third-place finish by Anthony Dion. Score now sitting at 33-27 Law Tigers leading. The second heat evened up things a little with a first-place finish by Team IFC's Justin Almon for three points. IFC scored three points with a second-place finish by Timmy Dion and third place finish by Bryan Yarrow. The score now sat at Law Tigers 36-Team IFC 30.
In the third heat Tisiah Prout came out of the gate on fire and followed by teammate Hunter Castillo and they came up with a first and second finish for Team IFC and five points. Sammy Tetrault was able to add one point for his third-place finish for Team Law Tigers and the score settled at Law Tigers 37 to IFC's 35 points. Another 9-9 tie for these two competitive teams and leaving the same two-point difference as they entered with. Great racing by both teams and the tight scoring in the challenge continues to round five on July 25.
Broc Nicol picked up his fifth scratch main event win in the scratch program. The current AMA National Speedway Champion scored wins in his heat race, semi-final and the main event becoming the “Fastest man of the night” for the fifth time this season. Coming out of lane four in the main event, Nicol took the outside line higher on the track and powered to the front by the first lap. Giving a serious challenge were Wilbur Hancock, Danny Faria and Billy Janniro behind them. As the four-lap race progressed Nicol, riding flawlessly, just increasing his lead with each lap and won the race by a wide margin. Hancock took second place, Faria was third and Janniro was fourth.
Justin Almon scored big in the handicap program. In his first race of the night and of the season at Fast Fridays, Almon was getting his bearings finishing fourth in his first heat race. Getting up to speed on Fast Friday's tricky track Almon won his semi-final then moved to the main event. Handicapped on the 10-yard-line Almon made a good gate and led the entire race. Almon was not without serious challenges from Bryan Yarrow who was following close in second and Billy Janniro right close behind Yarrow. The race could have gone to any of these three riders, but Almon held on for the win and Yarrow was able to lead Janniro by a small margin. Almon was first, Yarrow second and Janniro third.
Hunter Castillo won the Support Class main event, his second support class main event win of the season. Castillo can never be counted out of any race and is a consistent top three finisher in his division. In the main event Castillo led for most of the race but behind him drama was building between Antonio Coffman and Catherine Moore. Coffman was in second for most of the race right behind Castillo but creeping up on him was the pesky Moore and just before the finish line she made her move passing Castillo by inches to take second place. Coffman was third.
Jameson Hutchinson topped the Youth 250cc Division 1 division program with a win in the main event. Hutchinson was perfect winning all his races including the main event. Hutchinson was up against the Rearick brothers Wesley and Riley in all their races. Wesley Rearick finished second in the main and Riley Rearick third in the main event. It was Hutchinson's fifth Youth 250cc Division 1 main event win of the season.
Caden Cavrikas was the winner of the Youth 250cc Division 2 main event. Cavrikas, also was perfect in all his races including the main event. In the main event he led Gracie Janniro the entire race though she followed close behind looking for a Cavrikas mistake, but she had to settled for second place. Baylee Evans Seeley was third in the main event.
In the Youth 150cc divisions Mason Howell won the Division 1 division main event, his first main event win since moving up from the Youth 150cc Division 2 division. Zander Schroeder was second and Logan Kerr was third. Gavin Evans-Seeley won the Division 2 division main event, his first main event win in Youth 150cc Division 2 division of the season. Leeann Emerson was second and Hank Hanaway was third. Zeva Schroeder won the Division 3 division main event followed by William Bruce. The win was her third main event win of the season.
For those fans interested in the rider points race for this season at Fast Fridays, Billy Janniro leads division one riders with 1202 points, behind him is Russell Green with 1085points and then Broc Nicol with 1073 points. Catherine Moore leads the support division with 476 points, followed by Antonio Coffman with 444 points and Cody Aker with 415 points. These totals are after the July 4 races and do not include the totals from the July 11 races. All rider point totals can be found at www.fastfridays.com.
Next week July 18 one of the longest speedway racing contests continues and is a not to be missed evening of racing. Since 1991 the North vs South race has been a highly anticipated race. A team from Southern California travels to Auburn to face off against a team of Northern California homeboys. It is a long running grudge match with a year of bragging rights on the line. The North leads the South 22-12 so look for The South to come out swinging. Great racing, “The place to be on Friday nights.”
